Public Sector SMME Payment Assistance
Hotline
The South African government resolved in October
2007 to establish a national outline with the aim
of rendering a core service to small, medium and
micro enterprises SMMEs) to ensure the facilitation
of overdue payments. This initiative of government
was articulated by former President Thabo Mbeki in
his State of the Nation Address in February 2008 – the
strategic objective being bridging the gap between
the first and second economy in South Africa by
providing SMMEs with a higher level of cash-flow
security and the opportunity to grow and develop
their businesses. Advance Call was appointed in
October 2008 to provide this hotline.
